‘Steppenwolf Salutes Women in the Arts’ honors original ensemble member and award-winning actor Laurie Metcalf, whose remarkable career has spanned theater, film and television. Since joining the original Steppenwolf Theatre Company ensemble in 1976, she has performed in more than 35 productions with the company. She has also performed in a wide range of films, but has gained wide-spread fame for her role as Jackie Harris in the hit series ‘Roseanne’. I last spoke with Laurie Metcalf in October, 2010, just prior to the opening of ‘Detroit’ at Steppenwolf Theatre. She is looking forward to filming 6 more episodes of the HBO comedy ‘Getting on’ and to working with Alec Baldwin on Arthur Miller’s classic play ‘All My Sons’ opening this June in East Hampton. I was truly honored to have this intimate conversation with Laurie Metcalf about her career in the arts.
