I felt privileged to have my third interview with Mike Nussbaum, this time to explore Noah Haidle’s latest play SMOKEFALL at Goodman Theatre. Smokefall explores the passage of time through three generations of one family. Mike plays The Colonel, who desperately misses his wife, and is slipping into senility. Mike and I examined the funny and painful moments in the play, and discussed the physical and emotional demands of this special piece. Mike will be turning 90 years old next month, and he attributes his 50 years of extraordinary success on stage and screen to “genetic luck”.
