Jose Rivera is a playwright and the first Puerto Rican screenwriter to be nominated for an Oscar. He wrote the screenplay for the film Diarios de Motocicleta (The Motorcycle Diaries). I met Jose at the Goodman Theatre to discuss his newest play, BOLEROS FOR THE DISENCHANTED, which made its Chicago premiere in June, 2009, at the Goodman Theatre. This is a true love story inspired by Jose’s parents’ courtship and migration from Puerto Rico to Alabama.
