Regina Taylor (Trinity River Plays)

I had the privilege of speaking with Regina Taylor about THE TRINITY RIVER PLAYS, which kicks off the 2011 season at Goodman Theatre.This is a world-premiere trilogy that centers around the character of Iris Spears from age 17 - 34, who goes through different transformations. This includes 3 "episodes" in her life: Jar Fly, Rain and Ghoststory. While these stories are fictional, they are clearly very personal and inspired by some of her real-life relationships.I was deeply moved by her passion, commitment and strength, and gained insight into The Trinity River - the body of water that flows throughout Dallas Texas, which reminds her of the sky with the moon, the cicadas, and her mother's garden -- all of which are pieces of home.
