The world premiere of David Henry Hwang's new comedy, CHINGLISH, completes Goodman Theatre's "Decade on Dearborn" celebratory season. Chinglish grew out of the experiences Hwang had in China over the past five years, and focuses on the important role that language plays in our everyday lives - trying to be understood and to understand. Its humor is full of simple miscommunications and misunderstandings, but more importantly, Chinglish keys in on many political, social and economic differences between China and the United States. Jennifer Lim's character, Xu Yan, highlights the romantic aspect of our culture clash as she poignantly asserts in Mandarin "Your willingness to give up your marriage is a risk to mine."
