Syesha Mercado (Dreamgirls)

Direct from the Apollo Theater in New York City , the stage production of DREAMGIRLS opens at the Cadillac Palace Theatre. Syesha plays Deena Jones, one of the Dreamettes in this up-and-coming 1960’s singing girl group. Dreamgirls fans associate this role with Beyonce, who played Deena in the 2006 film version. Syesha is best known from American Idol, as she was the third place finalist on season 7. We talked about how this experience has prepared her the national tour of Dreamgirls.
